Why does God allow Satan to live?

Why does God allow Satan to live?

  1. “Now we can argue with that and say, "I don't agree. I don't think God should run the world this way." And if we ultimately disagree then we will reject God, we will reject the biblical testimony, and we will perish forever in hell.” I read this and I don’t agree, so...
Another opinion is that religion is a man-made contrivance and that hell is just another way of controlling people. Hell fire is only a threat to makes us behave and conform to a certain set of beliefs. It seems to me that the existence of Satan is a gaping hole in the logic of Christianity. Christians try to explain it away but in the end resort to threats of eternal damnation if one doesn’t buy it. God cannot be omnibenevolent and omnipotent and allow evil at the same time. This is a blatant contradiction. The author admits God would have to have a certain form of arrogance in his paragraph, “...more of God's glory will shine in that battle than if he took Satan out yesterday. “ In other words, he makes it sound like God has the personality of a proud dictator or a ostentatious general. Supposedly he’s God, he doesn’t need to flaunt it.

I would argue that God allows evil BECAUSE he is omibenevolent. COULD he stop evil? Yes. But what would happen to our free will in the mean time? And if we didn't have free will, would we REALLY be choosing to respond to God's love for us? Nope. If we can't choose it, then it wouldn't be really loving, would it? And that's another good argument in my opinion for the existence of hell. If the only possible existence after death is heaven, where goes our free will? What happens to someone who doesn't choose to follow God (in whatever capacity he is able)? Or to be clearer, what happens to a person who deliberately chooses NOT to follow God? "Non serviam." He goes to hell by his own choosing.

And while I didn't read the whole article, I also disagree with your interpretation of God using Satan for his glory. You're bringing God down to the level of fallen man. God is GOD - and he made us for himself. His glory is not only a gift to us, but it is a gift. Who says more of his glory shining is for Himself? And even if it were, ... it's difficult to argue that God the creator is being arrogant by delighting in his own glory. I think He did that very thing on every single day of creation: "And he saw that it was good." God is good. His glory is good. More glory is even better.

    Typical atheist arguments.
